Hello 2013.

Did 2012 fly by for anyone else?

Holy Smokes. It sure did for me.

This past week I sat down and spent time journaling. It was such a blessing to think back on 2012, and it made me that much more excited for whats ahead.

It was a great year in many, many ways.

Luke and I went on a date the other night and we were talking about some of the great memories we have from this past year… family vacations, traveling to Costa Rica and Haiti on missions trips and our anniversary cruise  are just some of them. I am still shocked at how quickly the girls are growing. They are such a blessing to me… I want time to slow down! Ellie is going to be 5! Yes, 5 years old in just a little over a month. Crazy.

For Captured, it proved to be another solid, fun, and exciting year. With 28 incredible weddings and over 40 other sessions, we had the chance to make lots of new friends. It was also fun to be able to travel to some different cities, states, and countries in 2012. Always nice to have a change of scenery! We were blessed to have 41 online features on some of our favorite wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty, Southern Weddings, Every Last Detail, Wedding Chicks, Floridian Weddings, and more. We were also published in 6 wedding magazines this year including Southern Weddings, the Knot, and others (and can I just mention how awesome it is that brides have some incredible resources out there these days?). We remodeled the office this year, which is exciting. Last, and probably the biggest thing for my business this year, I finally feel like I am getting a good balance between my workload and being a mommy. Having a set schedule each week has been huge. Limiting the amount of work I take on which means saying no and capping off months/the year has also been so important.

If I could some up 2012 in one word… I think I would say “thankful.”

God has been so good to me. He continues to teach me and mold me (sometimes it takes a few lessons before I finally learn, but I am so thankful that God is persistent. The fact that He wants to have a relationship with us still blows my mind).

Thanks to all my clients, friends, and family. Your support and encouragement have been a huge blessing to me this past year.

As we start 2013, I am really looking forward to what the future may hold. There are a lot of “unknowns” in our lives these days… but that’s ok. I know God has a plan and I am ready for whatever that may be!

Things I am most excited about in 2013:

-I am looking forward to enjoying my time with the girls even more (I love being their mommy).

-I am looking forward to spending time doing things that are important (and I am thankful to have a job where I can be flexible with my time).

-I am excited to grow closer to my husband… be the encourager and support he needs.

-I want to really love the people in my life… find more ways to bless others.

-Find ways to save money & work less hours.

-And, last I am excited for all of the new people I will get to meet this year.

I feel like I am broken record… saying “I’m excited” so many times. But I love the New Year. It is the time of unfolding horizons and daring to dream!

May we all be able to rejoice in the simple pleasures that life has to offer and have an extra ounce of faith during any challenges that may come our way.

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s to a great 2013!
